Market Summary -- 15th Jun 11

FTSE STI closed 3,054.82, down 2.57 points or -0.08% with a total volume of 916M and a total value of S$1.01b.  Total number of advance vs decline was 147 vs 268.  Of the 30 component index stocks, 12 closed positive, 16 closed negative and 2 remained unchanged.  The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

2. JSH 500US$  +0.520
3. JMH 400US$  +0.420
4. Wilmar  +0.140
5. HKLand US$  +0.080

The top 5 loser component stocks were :-

1. CityDev  -0.280
2. DBS  -0.200
3. F&N  -0.120
4. NOL  -0.080
5. SGX  -0.050

US markets moved up at least 1% due to China economic data and its May retail sales & PPI data.  A rebound from past days of selling.  Asian bourses however were muted to the rebound with selling pressure still there.  Nikkei closed +0.28%, SSE -0.90% and HSI -0.68%.  STI hovering between positive and negative region with upside cap at 3,080 and support at 3,040.  Commodity stocks were positive but weighed down by banking and property stocks after China raised reserve ratio yesterday.  The volume was thin though with only 916M transacted.  Investors still maintain cautious given the weak economic data and Greece's issue still unable to resolve yesterday.
