Market Summary -- 4th Jul 11

FTSE STI closed 3,153.44, up 14.43 points or +0.46% with a total volume of 1.33b and a total value of S$1.05b.  Total number of advance vs decline was 299 vs 229.  Of the 30 component index stocks, 24 closed positive and 6 closed negative.  The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets rallied at least 1.3% last Friday after a better than expected ISM Manufacturing data and ease of concern of the Greece's debts.  Asian bourses took the cue and traded in positive region throughout the day.  Nikkei closed +0.98%, SSE +1.94% and HSI +1.66%.  STI closed +0.46% with resistance at 3,165, 24 out of 30 index stocks registered positive closing.  Total volume of the day also higher than past days.  The higher in volume could be due to the commence of the new minimize bid size.  Though index has been on a up for past days, investors are concern on what other catalysts can move the market higher.  STI might be pulling back with support at 3,080 before the earning season starts next week.
