FTSE STI closed 2,461.43 down 25.12 points or 1.01% with a total volume of 1.374b and a total value of S$1.644b for the day. Total number of advance vs decline was 184 vs 404. Of the 30 STI component stocks 20 closed in negative, 9 closed in the positive and 1 remain unchanged. The top 5 loser of the component stocks were :-

Market conitnued the selling down from yesterday and also taking cue from other Asian markets that were closed yesterday ( Nikkei, SSE and HSI ) in which they were also under heavy selling pressure. Now concern is the health of AIG, this would be closely watched tonight in US market. There are also talk of US Federal Reserve might perform a 25 basis point cut of the Fed fund interest rate tonight.
