FTSE STI closed 2,544.13 down 14.94 points or 0.58% with a total volume of 1.523b and a total value of S$1.736b. Total number of advance vs decline was 260 vs 276. Of the 30 STI component stocks, 15 closed in the positive, 14 closed in the negative and 1 remain unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

The 2 new index stocks added together have different performance. Goldenargi fell 2 cents whereas JMH up 90 UScents. Early part of the day market was rallying in response to the strong closed on Wall Streets last Friday however as the day goes by, STI parsed gain as investors remain cautious on the US Government proposed US$700b bailout plan.
There was also news that Nomura won the auction of Lehman Brothers Asia assets.
