STI was following regional markets rallying up after news of US Government came in to aid the troubled Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac on Sunday. Coupling with European markets also opened on a positive note and US future in bullish mode, STI was able to maintain an up of 100 points in the afternoon sessions.
