FTSE STI closed 1,702.26, up 2.27 points or 0.13% with a total volume of 821M and a total value of S$755M. Total number of advance vs decline was 196 vs 174. Of the 30 component index stocks, 12 closed positive, 12 closed negative and 6 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets rebound on the last trading day of 1QFY09. Asia bourses took the cue as some stability and reacted relatively positively. Nikkei closed +2.99% after Japanese PM launches the 3rd stimulus package. HSI closed -0.42% and SSE +1.47%. STIopened slightly down but investors bargain hunt the blue chips which lead to a positive close for the first trading day of 2QFY09. Market volume was thin as investors still remain cautious ahead of tonight US economic data on Motor Vehicle Sales, ADP Employment Report, ISM Mfg Index and Pending Home Sales.
