US markets closed with modest gain last Friday despite profit taking. Asia bourses were pretty mixed on opened this morning. Bargain hunting allowed Nikkei to close +0.19%, HSI +0.95% and SSE +2.14%. STI was floating around the 1,900 level but failed to move above it. As late afternoon profit taking kicked in, STI closed -1.14%. Bank, Property and SingTel fell weighing down the index but offshore/marine counters managed to post gain to offset the drop. Investors were cautious ahead this week with more corporate earnings from US and locally coming out.
