US markets reversed earlier gain and closed in the negative after comment from US Fed chief disappointed the market. Asia bourses took the cue and traded in the negative region for the day. Nikkei closed -0.86%, SSE -1.54% and HSI -1.58%. The selling pressure intense in the afternoon for STI when Europe markets opened deeply in the red; trading down at least 2%. Bank and SingTel led the selling. Singapore released its 1Q09 GDP of -14.6% a better number than market expectation but that doesn't help lifting the bearish sentiment of the market.
