US markets gave up early gain last Friday and closed down. This gave Asia bourses directionless especially when US markets are not opened tonight. Asia bourses mostly were able to reverse early loss and closed positive for the day due to bargain hunting. Nikkei closed +1.31%, SSE +0.48% and HSI +0.35%. STI gain was led by offshore/marine counters while bank, commodity and property were mixed. Investors still remained cautious ahead of this week economic data from US namely, home sales data, consumer confidence and 1Q09 GDP.
