US markets were flat when investors took profit from the recent rally while awaiting for more economic data. Asia bourses initially started the day also flat but SSE did another 5% drop in the afternoon which caused some panic and selling in the afternoon. However, SSE managed to recover to close -2.5% and that help other markets to rebound from their intra-day low. Nikkei closed -0.79%, SSE -2.59% and HSI -0.49%. STI opened below 2,600 and fell to an intra-day low of 2,574 tracking the drop of SSE but soon recovered the loss and closed 2,618 with banks, SingTel, SIA and offshore/marine counters backing the losses. The short-term momentum is still on an uptrend but a very cautious one as investors also tracking the weakness of the SSE market.
