Of the 30 component index stocks, 26 closed positive, 2 closed negative and 2 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets continued the advance with a better than expect retail sales figure that pushed DJI closed the highest for this year. Asia bourses took the cue and traded in the positive except for SSE. Nikkei closed +0.52%, SSE -1.12% and HSI +2.57%. STI rallied with most of the index stocks recorded a positive closing. Even though the sentiment is bullish, investors still very cautious as they want to see more solid economic data.
