US markets fell average 2% after a bad new home sales data as investors were questioning the recovery of the economy. Asia bourses took the cue and traded in the negative region with Nikkei closed -1.83%, SSE -2.34% and HSI -2.28%. STI opened fell to near the 2,600 level but managed to rebound from that when investors snapping up blue chips at that level. With a positive DJ future and not so weak European markets opening, STI managed to crawl back the loss to finish just -0.63%. Investors will be looking at tonight US announcement of its 3Q09 GDP figure to indicate whether US has indeed officially out of recession.
