US markets rebound at average 1% after the health-care bill was passed and analysts upgraded on Intel and Alcoa. Tech stocks led the rally. Asia bourses took the cue and mostly traded in the positive region except SSE. Nikkei closed +1.91%, SSE -2.32% and HSI +0.69%. STI gapped up above the 2,800 level and traded above that level throughout the day, closing a new year 2009 high at 2,823.82 with 25 of the component index stocks posted gain on close.
