US markets pulled back at least 1% last Friday with a disappointed result from JPMorgan due to its loan losses despite profit gain in investment. Asia bourses were mixed with Nikkei closed -1.16%, SSE +0.40% and HSI -0.90%. STI managed to regain the 2,900 level and closed +0.12% with investors snapping up the blue chips as earning season get into full swing this week with SGX and A-Reit reporting their earnings today after market close. Earlier on during lunch time, data released indicated that Singapore export for December jumped 26.1% from a year earlier with the electronics sector rebounded strongly. Investors will also be looking at US banks earning this week. However, US market will be closed tonight for holiday.
