FTSE STI closed 2,913.25, down 17.24 points or -0.59% with a total volume of 2.77b and a total value of S$2.39b. Total number of advance vs decline was 240 vs 319. Of the 30 component index stocks, 8 closed positive, 20 closed negative and 2 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets ended mixed again yesterday night after ADP job data and Fed comment concerning about the unemployment rate. Asia bourses were weak for the day and with China again tightening measures caused profit taking and selling in the regional bourses causing indexes to all close in the red. Nikkei -0.46%, SSE -1.89% and HSI -0.66%. STI hit an intra-day new high of 2,945.06 and retreated to close down 17.24 points at 2,913.25 when investors chose to taking profit from the blue chips as they await for US employment data tomorrow.
