FTSE STI closed 2,736.17, down 9.18 points or -0.33% with a total volume of 1.34b and a total value of S$1.24b. Total number of advance vs decline was 167 vs 297. Of the 30 component index stocks, 10 closed positive, 18 closed negative and 2 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets closed in the red last Friday despite a better than expected GDP figure, better earnings from Microsoft and Amazon. The sold down was led by tech stocks as investors concerned on the recovery ahead and debt issue in Europe. Asia bourses were mixed with Nikkei closed +0.07%, SSE -1.60% and HSI +0.61%. STI though able to move into positive region during the day but failed to close positive as investors taking an chance of rebound to sell off the blue chips and remain cautious ahead of this Friday unemployment data in US.
