FTSE STI closed 2,720.87, down 15.30 points or -0.56% with a total volume of 1.60b and a total value of S$1.32b. Total number of advance vs decline was 176 vs 289. Of the 30 component index stocks, 9 closed positive, 17 closed negative and 4 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets rebounded at least 1% yesterday night due to a better than expected manufacturing data and Obama's plan for this year deficit. Asia bourses opened in the position for the day but soon parse gain as investors taking profit to stay cautious. Nikkei closed +1.63%, SSE -0.23% and HSI +0.14%. STI reversed early gain and closed in the red with a 15.30 points drop. Investors locking in profit for the blue chips resulting in only 9 of the component index stocks managed to close with a gain. Investors are stay cautious ahead of this Friday US unemployment data.
