Of the 30 component index stocks, 27 closed positive, 2 closed negative and 1 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets advanced at least 1% yesterday night after a better than expected home sales data. Asia bourses took the cue after 2 days of advance in US markets and investors came back to snap up the blue chips. Nikkei closed +0.32%, SSE +2.36% and HSI +2.22%. STI closed +1.62% crossing the 2,750 resistance level as investors buying up the blue chips. SIA led the gainer when its posted a quarterly profit after 2 quarters of losses. Banks stocks were another group of gainer as analysts are expecting the 3 local banks able to post a better than expected earnings. DBS's result will be out this Friday.
