US markets opened at least down 2% yesterday night on fear of European debt woe but managed to do a intra-day reversal and closed marginally flat.  Consumer confident rose beating expectation too.  Asia bourses took the cue and traded in the positive region for the day.  Nikkei closed +0.66%, SSE +0.12% and HSI +1.11%.  STI at one point reclaimed the 2,700 level after European markets opened at least 1.5% up but with window dressing or fund managers doing portfolio adjustment for month end, several huge transactions namely ST Engg, SingTel, SIA etc gap down on close and caused STI to close below 2,700.  The Jardine group of stocks were supporting the index on the upside.  Market still on cautious mode over the uncertainties of the European debt.
