FTSE STI closed 2,928.70, up 3.38 points or +0.12% with a total volume of 1.06b and a total value of S$1.06b. Total number of advance vs decline was 203 vs 215. Of the 30 component index stocks, 15 closed positive, 10 closed negative and 5 remained unchanged. The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets closed slightly positive yesterday night with investors having expectation of better earnings and after market closed, Aloca reported a better than expected set of result. Tonight will be Intel's earnings. Asian bourses however were on the cautious side with most taking profit after the recent run up. Nikkei closed -0.11%, SSE -1.62% and HSI -0.18%. There was also news of China further implementing property curb measures to cool down inflation and that caused negative sentiment to Asian markets. STI remained resilient with a slight positive close reverse earlier loss after European markets opened in the positive coupled with a positive DJ future. However, market volume still thin with only 1.06b.
