US markets were mixed yesterday with DJ and Nasdaq closed slightly negative but S&P500 was slight positive as investors were divided between strong corporates' earnings and economic data. Asian bourses were mostly in the negative due to lack of direction from US markets with Nikkei closed -2.86%, SSE -0.0% and HSI -0.03%. STI swung between positive and negative region but managed to close positive with a 0.48% gain with 16 out of 30 component stocks posted a gain on close but market value was thin with less than S$1b worth. Total volume was 1.29b indicating penny stocks were in focus.
