FTSE STI closed 2,938.74, up 12.87 points or +0.44% with a total volume of 1.36b and a total value of S$1.05b. Total number of advance vs decline was 208 vs 220. US markets reversed earlier gain and closed average down 1% after worries of economic recovery with DJ closing below the 10,000 level despite a more than expected drop in Jobless Claims. Investors will be looking at tonight what the US Fed Chief's action to support the economy in an annual symposium. Asian markets were mixed with mostly managed to close positive. Nikkei closed +0.95% after its automaker reported solid profit. SSE +0.28% and HSI -0.07%. STI managed to close in the green with a +0.44% with 17 out of the 30 component stocks closing positive. There was a sense of National Day Rally ( happens this Sunday ) as majority of the local blue chips were bought up. Investors should be closing monitor what US Fed Chief's speech and also PM Lee on Singapore economy recovery during the National Day Rally.
