FTSE STI closed 3066.52, up 5.21 points or +0.17% with a total volume of 1.09b and a total value of S$1.11b.  Total number of advance vs decline was 184 vs 255.  Of the 30 component index stocks, 17 closed positive, 10 closed negative and 3 remained unchanged.  The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets fell last Friday despite better unemployment rate (8.9%) as investors focused on middle east unrest resulting in oil price rose above US$100.  Asian bourses however were mixed for the day.  Nikkei closed -1.76%, SSE +1.83% ( after China Government detailed a 5-year growth plan over the weekend ) and HSI -0.41%.  STI trading between positive and negative region managed to close +0.17%.  17 of the 30 component stocks managed to close positive.  Investors still very much cautious in the market as the daily volume was just slightly over 1b.  Oil price rose to above US$105.
