Market Summary -- 29th Jun 11

FTSE STI closed 3,079.74, up 28.95 points or +0.95% with a total volume of 1.11b and a total value of S$1.09b.  Total number of advance vs decline was 277 vs 128.  Of the 30 component index stocks, 27 closed positive and 3 closed negative.  The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets moved up around 1% yesterday night with optimism over the Greece's issue.  Asian bourses taking the cue mostly traded in positive region.  Nikkei closed +1.54% when its May industry output exceeded expectation.  SSE -1.11% after past few sessions of gain and HSI 0%.  STI rose 0.95% when European bourses opened at least +1% in anticipation that Greek Parliament will able to approve the measures in order to get bailout funds from EU and IMF.  27 of the 30 index stocks registered a gain.  There was also an element of window dressing sentiment as tomorrow is the end of 1H2011.  Investors will be monitoring the outcome of the Greek Parliament vote tonight.
