FTSE STI closed 3,115.95, up 2.22 points or +0.07% with a total volume of 1.23b and a total value of S$1.43b.  Total number of advance vs decline was 215 vs 197.  Of the 30 component index stocks, 14 closed positive, 10 closed negative and 6 remained unchanged.  The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

US markets continued to pull back yesterday night dropping at least 0.5% as investors still concern on the weak employment situation that affect economy recovery.  Asian bourses after yesterday sold down managed to recover for today.  Nikkei closed +0.67%, SSE +0.60% and HSI -0.35%.  STI opened in negative region but managed just to edge out some gain on close with a +0.07% in a volume more than 1 billion.  14 out of 30 component stocks managed to register positive closing.  Some bargain hunting and short covering in response to positive opening from European bourses and DJ future.
