US markets closed down at least 1% last Friday as continued worries of its economy and the Europe debt which led to several analysts downgraded the growth and stating that on the brink of recession weighed on investors.  Asian boureses were in the red in the earlier part of the day but managed to recover earlier loss and closed mixed.  Nikkei closed -1.04%, SSE -0.73% and HSI +0.45%.  STI hit intra-day low of 2,680 just 30 points above the critical support at 2,650 but managed to recover to close at 2,731.81 just lost 0.07% in a moderate volume day.  Bargain hunting coupling with firm opening from European bourses and DJ future helped push the index to recover and above the 2,700 level.  18 of the 30 index stocks managed to register positive closing.  At this junction any technical rebound is possible due to extremely oversold but as the bigger issue over the EU and US still remain unresolved, market will be volatile for the time being.
