Market Summary -- 15th Sep 11

FTSE STI closed 2,765.95, up 26.60 points or +0.97% with a total volume of 1.30b and a total value of S$1.33b.  Total number of advance vs decline was 249 vs 167.  Of the 30 component index stocks, 17 closed positive, 10 closed negative and 3 remained unchanged.  The top 5 gainer component stocks were :-

2. UOB  +0.450
3. SIA  +0.330
4. DBS  +0.210
5. OCBC  +0.200

The top 5 loser component stocks were :-

1. Jardine C&C  -0.640
2. HKLand US$  -0.080
3. SGX  -0.030
4. CapMallsAsia  -0.015
5. CapitaMall  -0.015
5. NOL  -0.015

US markets closed at least +1.3% yesterday night with easing concern of EU debt offset a weak PPI data.  Asian bourses mostly rebound from yesterday sold down.  Nikkei closed +1.76%, SSE -0.23% and HSI +0.71%.  STI in line with regional bourses closed +0.97% with 17 of the 30 index stocks registered positive closing.  The possible of creating a Euro bond and with both France and Germany pledging to help Greece in its debt, these helped to ease the debt issue weighing on investors for past weeks.  Though there is no quick fix solution to it, investors were delighted to see some improvement to the problem.
