1. WALL STREET: Stocks gained as Travelers, McDonald's and 3M paced another round of better-than-expected earnings reports. Travelers gained 7.7% after commercial, personal insurance provider's 3Q profit more than quadrupled on sharply lower catastrophic losses, improved investment returns. Diversified manufacturer 3M added 3.2%, after beating analysts estimates, raising full-year earnings view. McDonald's gained 2.0%. AT&T gained 0.6%; while its 3Q profit fell 1.2%, it still topped Wall Street expectations. Amazon.com said its 3Q earnings surged 68% as sales rose strongly across board; online retailer jumped 11% in after-market activity. Weighing on technology stocks, eBay shed 4.2% as online auction firm's 3Q profit fell 29% despite higher revenue as margins suffered from a recently acquired business. Dow +1.3%, Nasdaq +0.7%
